BRINGING AN ICON TO LIFE
When the team at Checkmark approached us about their new Beggin’ campaign, we couldn’t contain our excitement. ‘Hamlet,’ the official mascot of Beggin’ had never been animated before and was only really known for his PON (Point of Nose) in the famous ‘IT’S BACON!’ commercial. Collaborating with the agency creative team was an incredible process because we were setting precedent for ‘Hamlet’ and creating his persona for the first time.
Live action was Directed by Matt Pittroff who ensured that we gave a nod to classic Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo cell animation that we all know and love. In post, we decide to build Hamlet in 3D but then render him to feel like an updated version of those cell animated classics. This gave a unique look and allowed for easy tweaks to his motion. It also created an asset that the brand can easily leverage for future use.
The result is a fun, energetic chase from the bedroom to the kitchen and all parts in between as our pup finally finds his long awaited treat.
This is ‘Follow that Dog.’
