In the realm of creative challenges, there are projects that stand out for their ambition and innovation. The tale of Remus Bourbon’s brand history and its infamous founder is one such endeavor that captivated Story Brand Agency’s imagination, and the 90 Degrees West team was honored to help. Let’s delve into a journey of gracefully traversing multiple eras within the confines of a 30-second commercial.
From its inception, the mission was clear: immortalize Remus Bourbon’s story. The brand’s desire was to remember the Prohibition Era, while celebrating the Roaring Twenties. As with any ambitious project, our team was faced with a challenge: how to conjure the essence and allure of distinct times while seamlessly blending them together. Moreover, we had to achieve this feat without blowing the budget and ensure a final product that exuded high-quality production.
After some creative brainstorming, a brilliant solution emerged! The continuous shot approach. This entailed the camera to glide along the length of a meticulously arranged tabletop, adorned with props that represented each period of time. By maintaining a single shot, we could seamlessly transition through the eras.
One of the most enjoyable elements of the shoot was the ingenuity displayed by the wardrobe team. With a single actor traversing the scene, they were faced with the challenge of outfitting him in era-specific attire at three points along the tabletop. The team’s creative prowess came to the fore as they ingeniously crafted tearaway garments. The actor could swiftly change outfits, like a quick-change magician, while the camera continued its journey down the tabletop.
Central to this project’s success was the art of prop selection. Each item holds deep significance not only to Remus Bourbon’s brand identity but also to the era it represented. We allowed the props to tell their own stories, weaving them into the broader narrative, creating a tapestry of authenticity and charm.
We raise our glasses to Remus Bourbon’s journey, and toast to the timeless allure of visual storytelling.
